We provide a free subscription service for the collection of clinical waste from your home, which includes suitable containers and bags for storing and presenting waste for collection.
We can collect:
- bandages/dressings
- catheters
- gloves, aprons and bibs
- stoma bags
Clinical waste is collected weekly. A collection point, day of collection, collection frequency and any other specific requirements regarding this service will be arranged with you.
Apply for a clinical waste collection

After applying for the service, a black dustbin and yellow bags will be delivered to your address within 10 working days. We advise that you put your house name/number on the bin.
When you need to get more yellow bags, visit your local Connects Centre, speak to the crew on collection day, or call us to have them delivered.
Your collection service will last for 2 years from the day of registration. We will write to you when your clinical collection is due to end. If you need to continue with the service after this time, you will need to re-register. Please contact Streetscene if you no longer need a collection.
Your data will be processed by Flintshire County Council as part of our public task for the specific purposes of administering and processing your registration for Clinical Waste collection and Disposal under The Environmental Protection Act 1990, Section 33 and 34.
Your special category data (medical and health) will be processed by Flintshire County Council under Article 9; (g) processing is necessary for reasons of substantial public task paragraph 12. Regulatory requirements of schedule 1 of the Data Protection Act 2018.
Flintshire County Council will not share your data with any other organisation.
Flintshire County Council will retain your data as submitted on the Registration Form for the current year plus 7 years.

- To register for the Clinical Waste collection, the person or persons requiring the service must reside at the given address on a permanent basis.
- The Clinical Waste collection is available to any Flintshire resident on a regular basis, upon application. Homes where Clinical users are only visiting family or friends are not entitled to the service.
- As part of the Clinical Waste Collection service, we will collect:
- bandages/dressings
- catheters
- gloves, aprons and bibs
- stoma bags
- We will collect your Clinical Waste every week.
- Clinical Waste must be presented in the yellow bags provided, which should be placed inside the black bin (With yellow tape) with the lid firmly closed. For collection, the bin should be placed where you would normally present your recycling containers, on your designated Waste Collection Day (this may differ from the usual recycling & waste collection day)
- Clinical Waste will not be collected unless they are presented in the container and bags issued by the Authority
- We will not collect sanitary waste or feminine hygiene products, such as sanitary towels, tampons or liners as part of the Clinical Waste service. You should continue to place these in your black bin (non-recyclable waste) ensuring that they are securely bagged before disposal
- If you receive assisted collections, we will collect your Clinical Waste from within the boundary of your property where waste and recycling is routinely presented for collection. To sign up for assisted collections please see our website
- Unless stated otherwise this service will last for a total of two years, properties will automatically be removed and will need to reapply after this time
- If you do not use the Clinical Waste service for three consecutive collections, we will cancel your subscription, and you will need to re-register. Please inform us if you need to suspend your Clinical collections at any time.
- Flintshire County Council reserve the right to suspend or terminate collection for any household registered for an Clinical Waste, due to the following:
- The service is being used to dispose of non-Clinical materials
- The bin is presented with the contents not bagged and secured
- The bin is not cleansed regularly and presents a health hazard to the collection operatives
- Any other eventuality that constitutes a health hazard to crew, pedestrians or neighbours
- Abuse to FCC collection crews
