Background
Although the environment in which we operate has changed, the ambitions and objectives of the previous Flintshire Housing Strategy & Action Plan 2019-2024 remain relevant.
This draft Housing Strategy 2025-2030 "The right type of home in the right location for the right people" sets out how Flintshire County Council and Partners will work together to fulfil our ambition for residents to live in the right type of home in the right location and explains how we will go about making that happen and outlines the key priorities for the next five years.
What does the Strategy cover?
The Strategy aspires to balance the immediate and longer-term priorities and provides an overview of our long-term vision to deliver the homes that people want and need.
The Strategy also provides information on the current challenges facing Flintshire and details actions for addressing these challenges and delivering on the priorities identified.
One of the most significant challenges facing Flintshire County Council (and the UK) is the increase in homelessness and growing numbers of households in temporary / emergency accommodation together with the potential for additional presentations due to the rise in mortgage interest rates when fixed rates end.
The Strategy outlines the strategic housing priorities and details the planned activity to achieve these priorities. An annual monitoring report will be published to chart progress against the various objectives contained within the strategy.
The Housing Strategy does not sit in isolation; therefore, it references and supports numerous national and Flintshire wide strategies, goals, and the Council’s core purpose.
