Childcare and Play Grant 2023 - 2024


Childcare and Play Grant funding is for subsidizing childcare costs for low income families;

  • parents who are re-entering the work place or looking to access a training course. 
  • access provision through the medium of Welsh;
  • to support the well-being of children.

Limited funds are available therefore we may not be able to fund all requests.

Applications must be submitted by the parent/carer.

If you have more than one child, please fill out a separate application for each child.

Applications will be considered and responded to within 10 working days. If applications are successful the funding will begin from date of approval, and will be made directly to the childcare provider on a monthly basis.

Please prepare the following evidence before you apply for the grant

1. Applicants looking to return to work

  • Copies of your work meetings with your work coach to show you are actively seeing employment. 
  • Please provide proof of income and benefits - all pages of your most recent Tax Credit Award Statement or three most recent months of Universal Credit from Inland Revenue (showing all pages)

2. Applicants wishing to attend training

  • A letter from Training/College Provider showing commencement date of training course and length of course.
  • Two months after the start date of training please provide another letter from the college/ university/ training courses to confirm that you are still attending the training. 

3. In need of respite

  • For the wellbeing of the child during family crisis or under special circumstances- please attach a supporting statement from a healthcare, social services or education professional.
