New Chair and Vice Chair announced

Mared and Gladys.JPGOn Tuesday, 24 May, Councillor Mared Eastwood was appointed as Chair of Flintshire County Council.  

She represents the New Brighton ward and has been a member of the Council since May 2017.

Councillor Eastwood has helped to organise, deliver and support various community events and groups and is also currently the clerk for Argoed Community Council.

Councillor Eastwood has lived in New Brighton for over 18 years with her husband and two sons.  Her husband, Mr Tim Eastwood, will be her consort.

Councillor Eastwood said:

“I’m delighted to be elected as Chair of Flintshire County Council for the coming year.   It is a great honour to represent such an incredible County as ours.  I will carry out my duties to the best of my ability and represent Flintshire with pride.”

Councillor Gladys Healey has been appointed as Vice Chair of Flintshire County Council.

Councillor Healey represents the Hope electoral division and has been a member of the Council since May 2017.  Her husband, Councillor David Healey who represents the Caergwle electoral division, will be her consort.

She has lived in Hope for 36 years and is a Governor of Castell Alun High School and Ysgol Estyn.

Councillor Healey previously worked in a number of care settings including the surgical and orthopaedic departments of Wrexham Maelor Hospital.  

She has two daughters and three grandchildren.
