Together we can all help to keep Flintshire safe

Published: 28/09/2020

Flintshire County Council has joined public bodies and businesses across Wales and England in displaying NHS COVID-19 App QR Code posters in our public buildings.

By displaying unique QR Code posters in each of our Council buildings which are currently open to the public, customers and visitors can use the ‘check-in’ feature on the new App.

By scanning the QR code every time you visit, should someone who visited at the same time as you test positive for coronavirus, you will get an alert. The app notification is anonymous and will not mention the name of the venue you have visited, it will just let you know that you may have come into contact with coronavirus.

All businesses, places of worship, community organisations open to the public and events taking place at a physical location are now required to display easily accessible NHS COVID-19 QR Codes.

It is still the law in Wales for high risk businesses to record and keep visitor details for 21 days. So as well as scanning the QR Code app users will still be required to provide their contact details when visiting high risk businesses including pubs, restaurants, close contact services such as hairdressers and barbers, indoor leisure centres and gyms, cinemas, casinos and bingo halls.

The NHS COVID-19 App is an important part of the Test, Trace, Protect programme to control the spread of COVID-19.

In addition to the ‘check-in’ feature, by downloading the app you will receive alerts on the level of coronavirus risk in your postcode area and where you have been near other app users who have tested positive.  You will be able to check if you have coronavirus symptoms, get help to book a test, get your results quickly and keep track of your self-isolation countdown.

It is quick, simple and secure and will help contract tracers to get in touch with you quickly if necessary.

The more people who use the app the greater our chances of reducing the spread of the virus and keeping ourselves, our loved ones and each other safe.

You can download the app today at the App Store apps.apple.com/gb/app/nhs-covid-19/id1520427663  and Google Play play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.nhs.covid19.production
