Buckley High Street

Published: 03/08/2020

In 2019, Flintshire County Council, Buckley Town Council and local traders formed a working group to explore possible highway alterations and improvements in Buckley.

The group had planned to hold a public consultation to determine whether members of the public and stakeholders would be in favour of a scheme to de-pedestrianise the High Street on a trial basis, removing the traffic free zone, opening the road to vehicles and allowing for free short stay on-street parking in the town.

The group has determined that it would not be possible to hold a meaningful consultation at this time and inappropriate to make any substantial alterations while businesses are recovering from the lockdown restrictions. The proposed consultation will be deferred for an initial period of 3 months.

In the meantime, the working group will continue to explore opportunities to improve connectivity within and around the town, this includes the development of further active travel routes and road safety schemes.
