The outgoing Chairman of Flintshire County Council, Councillor Glenys Diskin, has presented her chosen charities with cheques totalling over £20,000. Since being elected last May, she has supported the British Heart Foundation and Prostate Cancer Research Centre. Cllr Diskin presented representatives from both charities with cheques for £10,000 each at County Hall in Mold, ending a very successful year as chairman, during which time she has also undergone treatment for Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. A cheque for £350 will also be given to the Friends of Flintshire Youth Music. Cllr Diskin said: I am so pleased and overwhelmed that we have managed to raise so much money for three charities close to my heart. I would like to thank everyone for their fantastic support during my year in office - I have had a wonderful year.
