Grants for sports projects
Published: 27/10/2014
Sport Flintshire is encouraging local sports clubs and community groups to
apply for financial assistance from the Sport Wales Community Chest Grant for
community sports projects.
Up to £1500 is available to organisations to encourage people to become more
active, more often. To meet the application criteria an organisation must
deliver sports or physical activity and have a bank account.
Grants can be used for coaching education, first aid and safeguarding
workshops; new kit and equipment for new teams; facility hire for new teams and
instructor or coaching costs.
Councillor Kevin Jones, Cabinet Member for Waste Strategy, Public Protection
and Leisure said: “With local panels deciding local needs, Community Chest has
been and continues to be a huge success.
“We would like to see more community clubs and organisations taking advantage
of the financial support that is available to them with the aim of improving
and increasing provision for sport and physical activity in Flintshire.”
Organisations could be eligible for an additional £1500 if a project is
specifically aimed at women and girls, tackles inequality or is a response to
additional participation generated by the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
