Victoria Recreation Ground

Green space in Bagillt has been given a prestigious status to protect the use of the land for future generations. Victoria Recreation Ground has been awarded Queen Elizabeth II Field status by the charity Fields in Trust, formerly known as the National Playing Fields Association, it means that the parks will be protected as public open space. A deed agreed between the landowners, Flintshire County Council, and Fields in Trust restricts use of the land for outdoor play, sport and recreation. Councillor Kevin Jones, Cabinet Member for Waste Strategy, Public Protection and Leisure who presented the plaque to Cllr Caradoc Williams, Chair of Bagillt Community Council and community council members said: “A number of playing fields across Flintshire have been protected by the charity with the help of work done by the Council and partner agencies. “Protecting the County’s green space for leisure and for children to play on is extremely important. It also means local people have somewhere to enjoy in the fresh air and is of huge benefit to health and welfare.” Please visit www.fieldsintrust.org for more information.
