Tribute to Councillor Teresa Carberry

Councillor Teresa Carberry sadly passed away earlier this week at the age of 64.

Although only being elected as a Councillor in May 2022, Councillor Carberry quickly became a highly valued and respected member of the Council, known for her fairness and balanced approach to her work.

She held a number of roles on the Council, notably as the Chair of the Education, Youth & Culture Overview and Scrutiny since 2022. She also served on Mold Town Council for a number of years, and was a well-respected maths teacher at Alun School, Mold for over 30 years.

Council Leader, Councillor Dave Hughes, said: “Cllr Carberry was very well liked and respected by all. She was extremely hard working and worked tirelessly to make a difference to her constituents. She will be greatly missed by us all, such a huge loss to Flintshire.”

The Chair of the Council, Councillor Mel Buckley said: “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Councillor Teresa Carberry, a deeply valued colleague and friend who showed so much resilience and courage. Despite the terrifying health problems she faced, Teresa remained one of the kindest, most gentle souls I have ever had the pleasure to meet.

“Councillor Carberry will be missed by all of her colleagues and friends at Flintshire County Council, and our thoughts are with her family and friends at this sad time.”

As a mark of respect to Councillor Carberry, the flags outside Ty Dewi Sant were flown at half-mast.
