Active travel and safety improvements coming to Ewloe roundabouts

Work to deliver active travel and safety improvements to two roundabouts in Ewloe are set to begin this month.

New pedestrian crossings will be introduced on the slip roads at Ewloe Roundabout, along with additional crossings at St David’s Roundabout, significantly enhancing safety and accessibility for pedestrians across these busy areas.

In addition to the new crossings, footways will be widened and improved, providing more space and a better environment for people walking and using active travel routes.

The scheme, designed in conjunction with the North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agent (NMWTRA), has been part funded by the Welsh Government’s Active Travel Fund.

Work is scheduled to start on 25 January 2026 and is expected to continue until May 2026.

During the construction period, there will be inevitable disruption to traffic and local journeys. Traffic management measures will be in place throughout the works to maintain safety for road users, pedestrians, and the workforce. All road users are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra time when travelling through the area.

Councillor Glyn Banks, Cabinet Member for Waste and Transportation, said: “This scheme represents an important investment in active travel and pedestrian safety at these busy roundabouts in Ewloe.

“We know the works will cause some short-term inconvenience, and we thank everyone for their patience while these long-term improvements are delivered.”
