Town centre commercial premises in Flintshire to benefit from over £1m regeneration investment
Published: 16/10/2025
Applications for this year’s Town Centre Property Improvement Grant Scheme are now closed, following high levels of interest amongst property owners. The scheme which is managed by Flintshire Couty Council’s Enterprise and Regeneration Service is being delivered thanks to £333,000 funding secured through Welsh Government’s Transforming Towns initiative and UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund. Owners and tenants of the commercial premises will invest over £670,000 themselves towards their property improvements, which will help to breathe new life into our town centres.
By March 2026, the funding awarded will:
- Deliver a range of property improvements including new and improved shop frontages, windows, doors, roofs, and also the internal refurbishment works at 12 properties.
- Support 6 vacant properties being brought back into use with businesses trading from them once the works are completed.
- Help support the creation of 8 new jobs.
The aim of the funding is to improve the vitality of the towns, create spaces that attract new businesses and encourage growth and investment as well as give residents more reasons to visit.
Although the window to apply for funding for 2025–2026 has now closed, it is anticipated that the scheme will run again for 2026–2027, subject to further funds being secured. If you would like to be kept informed about future opportunities, please contact regeneration@flintshire.gov.uk.
