Council Tax and Business Rate Collections for 2024/25
Published: 09/07/2025
New figures published by Welsh Government show that households and businesses in Flintshire are continuing to prioritise payment of Council Tax and Business Rates to fund vital public services.
In 2024/25, the Council collected 97.2 per cent of Council Tax, and we continue to be ranked as one of the highest performing Councils in Wales when it comes to collecting in-year Council Tax. Flintshire is also ranked as having the second lowest amounts outstanding per chargeable dwelling when considering longer-term arrears.
The Council also collected 98.5 per cent of Business Rates ‘in-year’, and this also ranks the Council as being one of the top collectors of Business Rates in Wales.
As well as maximising Council Tax and Business Rate collections, the Council continues to provide flexible payment plans, making it easier for residents and businesses to pay their bills or apply for discounts. Households in Flintshire can pay by weekly direct debits – one of few Councils in Wales to offer such a flexible payment scheme.
Commenting on the announcement, Councillor Paul Johnson, Cabinet Member for Finance and Social Value said, “These positive results reflect the collective efforts of the Council, residents, and businesses. My personal thanks go to the residents and businesses of Flintshire who recognise the importance of paying local taxes on time, and which directly support the delivery of vital services across our county”.
