Dog fouling

Six fixed penalty notices have been issued in the last 10 days for dog fouling as Flintshire County Council continue to pursue people who do not pick up after their dogs have fouled. The Council has recently taken on two additional Environmental Crime Officers to build on the good work from Operation Clean Up in relation to the environmental crimes of dog fouling. The issue of environmental crime, particularly dog fouling, has been highlighted as a priority by Flintshire residents. With these additional resources Flintshire Council will continue to run Operation Clean Up and enforce the zero tolerance in relation to dog fouling ensuring the message becomes clear that it will not be tolerated throughout the county and you will be caught if you fail to clean up after your dog. Additional resources mean dog fouling fixed penalty notices (FPN) have been issued - three in Buckley, two in Connah’s Quay and one in Northop Hall with a total of 26 FPNs issued for dog fouling since Operation Clean Up began. Councillor Kevin Jones, Cabinet Member for Waste Strategy, Public Protection and Leisure said: “Operation Clean Up is an ongoing campaign and I am pleased that officers are finding so many responsible dog walkers picking up after their dogs have fouled. “However, there still remains the irresponsible minority who fail to clean up after their dog. In adopting this more strengthened targeted approach to enforcement I believe that we are sending out the strongest possible message that dog fouling will not be tolerated.”
