Flintshire Connects celebrates a year of success
Cabinet Members will consider the annual performance of Flintshire Connects, the service responsible for providing face to face and digital access to Council services, when it meets on Tuesday 20 June.
Flintshire Connects provide much valued face to face support to vulnerable residents in Flintshire to access and apply for a range of services including Blue Badges, Social Housing, Homelessness and Benefits. Centres in Buckley, Connah’s Quay, Flint, Holywell, and Mold provide skilled Advisors who are focused on supporting residents.
Speaking about the support provided by Flintshire Connects, Cabinet Member for Governance and Corporate Services, Councillor Billy Mullin said:
“I am delighted that the annual performance report reflects Flintshire Connects’ continued commitment to delivering high quality, accessible and response public services. The Connects Advisors work incredibly hard to deliver a first-class service, not only in supporting people to access and apply for services, but also in supporting people with their digital literacy skills.
Flintshire Connects has faced significant recruitment challenges over the last 12 months, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank residents for their support and understanding where we have restricted our opening times.
We made the difficult decision earlier this year to reduce the opening hours at Buckley and Mold as part of the work the Council has undertaken to manage a difficult financial settlement. However, as we move forward, I am pleased to share Cabinet’s decision to increase the number of days that Buckley Connects will open.
In recognition of the importance we place on the service and despite the extremely difficult financial settlement imposed on us, Buckley Connects will be open 3 days each week, the same as Mold Connects. This change will be introduced as soon as our new Advisors are fully trained and confident to deliver the wide range of services offered.
I would also take this opportunity to promote digital inclusion. In a growing digital world it is important that no one is left behind. I encourage anyone requiring digital support to visit one of our welcoming Centres in which they can access free of charge use of the internet and devices and anyone requiring access to data can obtain free data SIMs.”
Flintshire Connects provide support to residents on low incomes to ensure they are digitally enabled by providing them with free SIM cards and data vouchers through the National Databank. Support is available at any of the five Connects Centres across the county.
