The provision of children’s play areas across the County is a very important element in both the development of a child and the general quality of life within a community. Flintshire County Council manages a large number of play areas, all of which require ongoing maintenance and periodic refurbishment to enhance their play value.
Since 2010/11, the County Council has worked in partnership with Town and Community Councils to upgrade children’s play areas via a match-funding improvement scheme. During the first three years of the scheme, Flintshire County Council has invested £275,000 - a match-funded total of £550,000 - in 46 locally determined improvement schemes.
For 2013/14, Flintshire County Council has set aside £140,000 - a match-funded total of £280,000 - for a further 19 improvement schemes.
