Application Process and Timeline

How to apply and key dates

Applying for a Town Centre Property Improvement Grant is straightforward. The process has two stages: a short Expression of Interest, followed by a Full Application for those invited to proceed.

We support every applicant throughout — you will not be navigating the process alone. Our team will provide personalised guidance once you have been invited to apply.

The timelines shown are what we aim to achieve. During peak periods or when application volumes are high, some steps may take slightly longer. We will always keep you informed of any delays.

How the Process Works

1

Stay Informed   2 min

Register your interest to be notified when the Expression of Interest opens. No commitment required at this stage.

2

Submit Expression of Interest   15–20 min

Complete the Expression of Interest form with your project details. This is a short, top-level overview of your proposal — not a Full Application.

3

Feedback   2 weeks*

Your EOI will be assessed for eligibility and strategic fit. We will contact you with the outcome. If successful, you will be invited to submit a Full Application.

* During peak periods (typically April to June), these timelines may extend. We appreciate your patience and will always keep you updated.

4

Full Application   2–4 weeks

Submit your Full Application pack by the chosen panel deadline. You will be offered personalised guidance from the Regeneration Team throughout this stage.

5

Panel   6–8 weeks*

Your Full Application is presented to the Regeneration Panel for assessment and decision. Your supporting officer will keep you updated on progress and timescales.

* During peak periods (typically April to June), these timelines may extend. We appreciate your patience and will always keep you updated.

6

Decision   2 weeks

You will receive written notification of the Panel’s decision. If approved, you will receive your Award Letter setting out the grant allocation and terms and conditions.

2026 Application Rounds

Apply early — funding may be allocated before the final round

The scheme has a limited budget. Once fully allocated, the scheme will close to new applications regardless of remaining panel dates.

All projects must be physically complete, and all invoices submitted by 31 January 2027.

What Happens After Approval?

Once your application is approved, you will receive an Award Letter confirming your grant allocation and the terms and conditions attached to it.

You must not start any works or place any orders before receiving your Award Letter. Starting works before approval will make you ineligible for funding.

During the delivery of improvement works you will be able to submit grant claims with evidence of completed works and invoices. Your supporting officer will guide you through this stage.
