Our Vision

Flintshire County Council is an efficient, high performing Council with an impressive record of leading and implementing innovative alternative delivery models to sustain services.

We are forward thinking, positive about potential, have continuously developed our expertise and acted with passion and resilience to achieve our success.

Building on our successes

Innovation is synonymous with Flintshire County Council.

Here in Flintshire we are committed to the provision of local services for local people and are working closely with communities, partners, businesses and employees to deliver a range of new, innovative and sustainable services.

For close to a decade now Flintshire County Council, along with every Council in the UK, has been managing the consequences of year on year reductions in UK and Welsh Government funding.

Even during these austere times, the Council has remained ambitious and through innovation and forward thinking has continued to protect and improve services by doing things differently, for example:

  • Aura Leisure and Libraries - a new company created and run by former Council employees
  • NEWydd Catering and Cleaning - a wholly Council owned trading company providing cleaning and catering services
  • Working with local communities, where there has been interest, to take on and run local services, e.g. Cambrian Aquatics at Connah's Quay swimming pool and Holywell Leisure Centre
  • NEW Homes - a wholly Council owned trading company providing homes for local people
  • SHARP (Strategic Housing and Regeneration Programme) building new Council and affordable homes
  • Double Click - a new social enterprise providing social services for adults with mental health issues and learning difficulties
  • Merging six depots into one new, more efficient, state of the art facility at Alltami
  • Saving money in the way we buy and operate Council vehicles
