Welsh language is an important part of Flintshire’s cultural identity and we have been proud to celebrate our linguistic heritage, hosting one of the most successful Urdd Eisteddfod’s in 2016. Welsh language is also part of our future and we have developed a Welsh Language Promotion Strategy to increase the visibility and audibility of Welsh and ultimately help to influence an increase in the number of Welsh speakers in the county. We also have a statutory responsibility to produce a Welsh Language Promotion Strategy as a requirement of the Welsh Language Standard 145.
The draft Strategy, developed with support from a variety of organisations including Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam, sets out how the Council can increase the visibility of Welsh and influence the increase in the number of Welsh speakers in the county.
