Explore Your Archive - Archi've Preserved and Conserved
Meet the Conservator event at Flintshire Record Office, 18 November 2017
Archives across Wales will be celebrating and showcasing the best of archives and archive services between the 18 and 26 November 2017.
The Explore Your Archive Campaign aims to open the phenomenal archival collections held by organisations – public and private – across the UK and Ireland, whatever their size and scale, and wherever they are.
The campaign is owned by the sector itself and delivered by a wide range of partners and stakeholders, including The National Archives (UK) and the Archives and Records Association (UK & Ireland).
Claire Harrington, Principal Archivist at Flintshire Record Office, said:
"Visiting a Record Office can take you on an adventure and you might end up discovering much more than you imagined. Archives enable all of us to discover the stories, the facts, the places and the people at the heart of our communities.
"Join us on Saturday 18 November between 10am and 2pm for an Archi've Preserved and Conserved – Meet the Conservator event at Flintshire Record Office. Archives are full of fascinating content to read, touch and explore, and most of it isn't available online. Take time to explore archives – you'll be amazed to find what lies within."
Mark Allen, Conservator, is offering three behind the scenes tours of his Conservation Studio at 10am, 11:30am and 1pm.
During these pre-bookable tours, Mark will explain a variety of conservation techniques and describe current work projects he is undertaking to preserve Flintshire's unique history. Booking is essential as spaces are limited, telephone 01244 532364 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for a place.
Mark has also prepared a conservation exhibition which will be on display at Flintshire Record Office for the duration of the Explore Your Archive campaign.
