Opening hours and further information
Hope Library will cease operating as part of the Flintshire County Council network of libraries on Friday 6th May 2016. Customers will be able to continue to use their membership at other council run libraries, on the mobile library, and to access online resources such as e-books, e-zines and the online catalogue and request service.
Castell Alun High School and the Friends of Hope Community Library will operate a community run library and school library in the current library premises at Castell Alun High School.
Mynydd Isa Library ceased operating as part of the Flintshire County Council network of libraries on Friday 15th April 2016. Caffi Isa will operate a community run library and café in the current library premises in Mynydd Isa Community Centre
Deeside Library, Flintshire's first self-service library, opened at Deeside Leisure Centre on Monday 29 February 2016.
To ensure a sustainable future for the Library and Information Service, retaining as many libraries as possible, closer working partnerships with local communities are being developed including a role for community volunteers. Volunteering Opportunities (Pdf 144KB new window).
Each of the Council’s libraries is listed below. In addition to fact and fiction books for all ages and access to a range of audio books and DVDs your local Flintshire library provides :

- Ticket booking service for some local theatres
- Many of the larger libraries hold cultural events, such as visits from authors.

Keeping track of your loans:
Please be aware that Flintshire Library and Information Service does not send out reminders about overdue items to adults or children. To avoid paying fines you can renew your items online, by telephone or mail. We do not charge fines on items that are borrowed on a child's card.
