Dragon Sport

Dragon Sport is for primary school children in Flintshire. Dragon Sport aims to create an initial interest in sports as well as developing co-ordination and movement skills amongst young children.

Dragon Sport is a Sport Wales initiative, funded by the National Lottery, which is designed to offer children aged 7-11 years fun and enjoyable sporting opportunities.

Liaising closely with schools and community sports clubs, Dragon Sport is making a dramatic impact on sports participation by encouraging children to become involved in a variety of organised sporting activities and to become hooked on Sport for Life.

Why Dragon Sport?

  • has been adapted to suit the player’s age, size ability, skill level and experience
  • uses simpler rules, smaller equipment and playing areas, plus fun training and coaching
  • prepares players for the adult game, resembles the sport on which it is based
  • is safe but still challenging

5x60

The aim of the 5x60 scheme is to encourage young people to get active and enjoy it. A range of exciting activities are available throughout all secondary schools in the County.

5x60 offers activities from football to netball, street dance to boxercise, and many more. These activities supplement the schools’ existing extracurricular programme. This is a scheme funded by Sport Wales which encourages all secondary pupils to participate in exciting activities in and out of school, developing skills for life in sport.
