The Pregnancy book
A complete guide to a healthy pregnancy, labour and giving birth and life with a new baby. Available from your Midwife.
Birth to Five
A complete guide to parenthood and the first five years of a child's life. It is provided to all parents through health services. Ask your health visitor or local clinic for a copy.
The parents guide to money
A guide designed to help parents manage their finances if they are expecting a baby or have recently become a parent. A useful guide for all parents available from your midwife, Family Information Service or the Money Advice Service (new window)
Raising children confidently
Children in Wales has written a series of booklets in partnership with the Welsh Assembly Government.

This booklet is intended to provide ideas for parents of young children on helpful ways of dealing with children’s behaviour, including alternatives to smacking.

Bibliotherapy - Book Prescription Scheme Children and Families - Books can Help
There is a lot of evidence to say that using good quality self-help materials can be very effective. This scheme provides resources recommended by parents for parents. Available in all Flintshire libraries and in some settings including Early Intervention, Sure Start, Flying Start and secondary schools.

Useful leaflets for parents, teachers and young people
The aims of these leaflets are to provide practical, up-to-date information about mental health problems which can affect children and young people.
Flintshire parenting guides
The Parenting Guide (PDF.doc 1.03MB new window) offers some ideas, information, warning signs and helpful tips to help parents find their way through a maze of issues and advice. It gives contacts and further information when deciding how to deal with worries and difficulties. It has been produced with the support of parents and a wide range of services who work with parents to promote positive parenting.
