Town centre regeneration - Mold

The Partnership is developing a robust action plan for the town to guide future actions. The Partnership supports Mold’s events calendar, which celebrates local food, Welsh history and builds community spirit. Through a recent initiative, the Partnership is also supporting social enterprise activity in Mold.
Mold is a ‘Cittaslow’ (slow food movement) town and belongs to a growing network of international towns where diversity, local culture and traditions, sustainability, local products, healthy living and strong community is valued. Cittaslow is well represented on the Partnership, and has lead on a number of initiatives including a “Local To” campaign to support local food producers and community consultation events.
As with many market towns in the UK, Mold is experiencing unprecedented pressures as competition for consumer spend increases. The most successful towns have adopted an approach that ensures the visitor and shopper experience is unique, memorable and likely to attract repeat visits. Mold’s Town Partnership, with the Town Council and County Council, recently commissioned the Mold Sense of Place Study to help the Partnership understand and build on what makes Mold so special.
The Mold Sense of Place Study (PDF.doc 865KB new window) provides the focus for a stronger sense of place for Mold, identifying how to build on local distinctiveness and highlighting how Mold may be developed over time to the greater benefit of residents, businesses and visitors.
