Education and Learning

The Flintshire Aspirations for Learners are nine statements which together summarise our aspirations for all learners within Flintshire, regardless of their age or setting.  They encourage all those involved in learning to focus on developing and fostering those skills which enable young people to build their self-esteem and confidence; increase their achievements; acquire a deeper understanding of themselves as learners and continue to learn lifelong

The Flintshire Aspirations are bases on the belief that learners can be guided and taught to discover how they learn so that through active involvement in the learning process they can become more effective and develop the essential skills of learning how to learn.

Our aspirations are that all learners will:

  • Work in a physical and emotional environment which enhances learning
  • Learn with their mind, body and emotion
  • Have full meaningful learning experiences
  • Experience learning in a variety of different situations both structured and unstructured.
  • Experience learning which matches their individual needs (academic, emotional, social and cultural)
  • Have lifelong learning skills and attitudes integrated into learning activities (modelled and used)
  • Have an opportunity to be involved as partners in learning within the wider community (class, school, local, national, global)
  • Have the broadest range of their achievements valued and recognised
  • Have their range of achievements assessed in a constructive way
