Over the next 20 years the number of people of retirement age in Wales will increase by more than 5% to 650,000 i.e. to 28% of the population. By 2020 the number of very old people (85+) in Wales will increase by over a third to 82,000 and there will be almost the same number of people aged sixty and over as there will be in their twenties and thirties.
