Children and family care

Bringing up children is one of the most important jobs we ever do, but it's never easy. Whether your needs are small or great, your Council has services to help.

Here you can find advice on everything from choosing a babysitter to finding respite or ‘shared care’ if your child has a disability. If you're feeling overwhelmed, there’s information on family support groups. You'll also find details on drop-in services for childminders. You can find out about our child protection work, and learn how you can safeguard children by recognising and reporting signs of harm or neglect.

Would you like to change a child’s life for the better- We are always looking for foster carers, and you can find out who to contact here. Applications from all kinds of people are welcome. So whether you’re gay, straight, young, old, single or in a couple, we’d love to hear from you
