Re employed Pensioners
All pension administration authorities have the discretion to reduce or suspend your LGPS pension if you become re-employed with Local Government. The Clwyd Pension Fund has opted to no longer ‘abate’ which means that you can be in receipt of your LGPS pension and start a new job in Local Government without your pension being affected. However, an LGPS pension already in payment may be affected if you received compensatory added years (CAY) as part of a redundancy or efficiency retirement. If you received an enhancement on your membership for ill health retirement, this must also be reviewed. These pensions must be abated by Clwyd Pension Fund by law.
If you received CAY or retired on ill health grounds and are now re-employed in Local Government, please contact the Clwyd Pension Fund with details of your new Local Government employment. We will confirm to you in writing whether or not your pension will be suspended or reduced.
