Accessibility
Accreditations

The council is reviewing the accessibility of the web site for everyone who uses it. We have mostly achieved Level A and aim to achieve Level AA in the future. In addition we have developed valid CSS (stylesheets to format the page) and mostly use valid HTML 4.01 transitional.
You will notice the ICRA (Internet Content Rating Association) logo appearing on our site. This links to the ICRA website and validates our website as containing ‘safe’ and inoffensive content.

Speech Enable

The site has now been speech enabled for users with sight problems. To take advantage of this you need to download Browsealoud software and install it on you PC.

Navigation

The site can be navigated in the following ways:
From the Home Page you can link to main areas using the left-hand main navigation.
The horizontal navigation at the top of each page will allow you to access other areas of the site Home, Do it Online, FAQ's, Interactive Mapping, Access Guide and Contact Us.

Other Developments

In addition to this, we are currently reviewing other accessibility issues that will lead to accreditation from the main accessibility awareness groups.

Other main accessibility features include:
Use of access keys
We provide ‘ALT’ tags for all images on the site
We use PDF (Adobe Acrobat) files for the large documents.
To open PDF files, you must have Adobe® Acrobat® Reader installed:

Download Adobe Acrobat reader image

To open Microsoft Word documents. you can use the Word viewer:
