
Background
Different screen resolutions have been taken into account during the design of the web site and so you will find it functions correctly in all resolutions from 800x600 - 1280x1024 pixels. The site is also available in most browsers versions 4 or above (Internet Explorer & Netscape Navigator).
Text Size
Follow these steps to increase or decrease the size of the text on our site.
1. Open the View menu with the mouse or by pressing Alt+V.
2. Select the Text Size option with the mouse or by pressing T.
3. Choose your preferred text size with the mouse or by using the up and down arrow keys and pressing Enter.
The text on our website will now have changed to reflect your choice
Access Keys
Access Keys allow keyboard navigation for users who do not use a mouse or similar pointing devices. They are also useful for all users of the web site as a quick way of navigating the site.
To use the access keys:
press and hold the ‘ALT’ key, then press the character associated followed by the return key.
The government has set out a complete set of guidelines for access keys shown below. Not all are currently available on our site but will be implemented in the future. In addition to these, we have highlighted our own access keys.

Accreditations
The council is reviewing the accessibility of the web site for everyone who uses it. We have mostly achieved Level A and aim to achieve Level AA in the future. In addition we have developed valid CSS (stylesheets to format the page) and mostly use valid HTML 4.01 transitional.
You will notice the ICRA (Internet Content Rating Association) logo appearing on our site. This links to the ICRA website and validates our website as containing ‘safe’ and inoffensive content.
Speech Enable
The site has now been speech enabled for users with sight problems. To take advantage of this you need to download Browsealoud software and install it on you PC.
Navigation
The site can be navigated in the following ways:
From the Home Page you can link to main areas using the left-hand main navigation.
The horizontal navigation at the top of each page will allow you to access other areas of the site Home, Do it Online, FAQ's, Interactive Mapping, Access Guide and Contact Us.
