Flintshire is a Welsh border county with a countryside and coast enriched by a fascinating past. Its lush agricultural landscape is the gateway to Wales.
These places to visit have been chosen to give you a taste of the variety of beautiful countryside day visits across the county for free. Most of them have ample parking, and can be either somewhere to get five minutes of fresh air, or be a starting off point for a longer walk. Choose from the links at the top of this page for further information.
Take your pick of high sweeping views from the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the West, the award winning sands of Talacre, or the wildlife-rich River Dee and Estuary. Discover our borderlands history, from forgotten Iron Age hillforts still guarding the county, to the restored remains of Flintshire’s latter-day industries that rivalled Ironbridge in their heyday.
Tips for enjoying your countryside
