Department: Youth Justice and Youth Services 
Title: Flintshire Trainee - Integrated Youth Provision 
Level: 2/3 Business Administration
Base: County Hall, Mold
What the team do:
• Offer intervention for young people who offend or are at risk of offending and preventing re-offending 
• Support and advise young people aged 10-25 and their families 
• Provide informal education and recreational opportunities to young people aged 11-25, through a network of youth clubs, projects, outreach, detached and mobile facilities.
What you would get involved with:
• Be the first point of contact for all incoming telephone calls from service users, families and professionals, visitors etc. 
• Collect incoming and outgoing mail
• Data input on client management system and associated spreadsheets

What the team do:
• Oversees the building of the new council and affordable homes across the county.
• Management of North East Wales (NEW) Homes Ltd which provides affordable rented properties across the county 
• Services such as the Bond Scheme, Housing Strategy, Gypsy Travellers, Training, Performance, Information Security and specific projects.
What would you get involved with:
• Arranging and attending meetings with the development partners 
• Preparing and circulating meeting documents such as agendas and minutes
• Document control to ensure all records are readily accessible

Title: Flintshire Trainee

What the team do:
• Deliver a pensions service for approximately 46,500 scheme members and 41 employing bodies
• Calculate various benefits, transfers in and out, refunds and maintenance of individual records
• Maintain the pension software systems and reconcile employer records
What you would get involved with:
• Create and maintain pension records
• Analyses, verify and validate the existing data on member records
• Sort and scan all external and internal post and emails including original documents such as certificates, passports and driving licenses
• Monitoring stocks of the sections stationery and ordering supplies
• Respond to written and telephone queries from pension scheme members and employers
• Undertake general clerical duties and other duties that may occur from time to time as directed by other senior pension’s staff.

Department: Alun High School
Title: Flintshire Trainee– Alun School
Level: 2/3 - Business Administration
Base: Alun School, Mold
What the team do: School main reception and admin office.  The admin team are the first point of contact and entry to the school liaising with parents, visitors, staff and students. They offer a full range of administrative support to the school.  This role is term-time only therefore the salary will be pro-rated.

Title: Flintshire Trainee – Business Administration – Inclusion Business Support

What the team do:
The Business Support Team supports the work of the wider inclusion service.  The service provides support to the most vulnerable learners such as those with special needs and disabilities as well as those who have had difficulty engaging with mainstream education. 
What you would be involved with:
• Provide assistance to the wider Business support and Schools Management information Teams as necessary
• Support the team Leader with lean system change and modernization projects
• Update and maintain the ONE system, a software tool for supporting a range of pupil support services within the portfolio and wider areas
• Assist and maintain the development of HwB (schools intranet site)
• Provide system and administrative support for the Inclusion and Management Information Service Teams


Department: IT Services
Title: Flintshire Trainee– Information Governance
Level: 2/3 - Business Administration
Base: County Hall, Mold
What the team do:
The team is responsible for the development and implementation of a range of policies and standards aimed at ensuring secure and effective use of information and technology as well as ensuring corporate compliance with legislation. The team is also responsible for the security, management and secure destruction of over 40,000 boxes of physical records stored both on-site and at secure offsite facilities. 
What you would be involved with:
• System administration functions within the records management team
• Dealing with customer contact via telephone and email
• Provide a supporting role to Corporate Information Officers on information management matters
• Log individual rights requests and freedom of information requests
• Records Management functions

Department: Welfare Reform Response Team
Title: Flintshire Trainee Benefits Service – Business Support
Level: 2/3 Business Administration
Base: County Offices, Flint
What the team do:
The Welfare Response team is located within Housing Benefits. The welfare reform teams aims are to proactively work with residents of Flintshire aiding early intervention plans and effective assessment of discretionary housing payments along with those ‘in-crisis’ situations to customer who are impacted by welfare reforms. 
What you would be involved with:
• To record and store accurate statistical information on service databases
• Maintain team email system on a daily basis
• Produce documents, letters spreadsheets, emails, using Word and Excel
• Update customer records securely and accurately
• Arrange appointments
• Provide admin support to the Management team
• Pay invoices 
• Room bookings

Department: Housing Asset Management Administration 
Title: Flintshire Trainee – Business Administration Assistant
Level: 2/3
Base: County Offices, Flint
What the team do:
The team provides administrative and clerical support to the gas service, capital works service and electrical services as well as providing general administrative support to the housing asset management team and all other sections of Housing Services based in County Offices Flint.  The team is the first point of call for all trades with queries. 
What you would be involved with:
• Maintain departmental records of staff and trade annual./flexi leave
• Provide managers with statistical information when required
• Input time sheet information
• Liaise with Fleet to make sure all vehicles go to the garage for their regular inspections.
• Design and update various spreadsheets
• Assist with monitoring and maintaining petty cash
• Maintain stocks of stationery
• Deal with incoming mail and record outgoing mail

Department: Workforce Development
Title: Flintshire Trainee – Business Administration Support Assistant
Level:  2/3

What the team do:
The training and development team are responsible for the delivery of learning to the Social Services Workforce. Social Services delivers care and support services to adults and children in Flintshire and safeguards those children and adults at risk of harm or abuse.
What you would be involved with:
• Receive enquiries, requests for service and complaints
• Input information onto the computer systems to produce reports as and when required 
• Support with records management, scanning ,archiving filing etc
• Organise venues for training courses, updating and circulating training information when required
• Minute meetings
• Make recommendations and apply lean techniques to assist with the provision of a business support service
• Process orders and invoices
• Order and maintain stationery stocks

Department: Support Services and Transportation
Title: Flintshire Trainee – Business Administration Trainee
Level: 2/3
Base:  Alltami Depot, near Mold.
What the team do:
The Streetscene and Transportation Support Services function are the first point of contact for Transportation, Highway Maintenance, Grounds Maintenance, Street Cleansing, Waste Collection and Disposal and Trunk road Works. The support services team maintain a comprehensive administration and clerical support for the entire Streetscene Service.
What you would be involved with: 
• Reception duties, providing a customer friendly service
• Administration and clerical support, including mail logging and distribution, typing and meeting room bookings
• Administration of orders for goods and services
• Monitor the Streetscene email account and direct emails to the appropriate department
• Assist with overtime claims and travel
• Maintain and update a secure filing system for personnel records and general correspondence
• Archive paperwork in line with corporate retention periods

Department: Service Charge and Customer Involvement Team
Title: Flintshire Trainee - Service Charge and Customer Involvement Assistant
Level: 2/3 Business Administration
Base:  County Offices, Flint
What the team do:  
The Service Charge and Customer Involvement Team help develop and deliver improvements for Flintshire tenants and communities alike. The team is developing new digital inclusion methods, exploring social networking and various other new tenant participation solutions.
What you would be involved in: 
Assist with:
• Deployment (via PDA) of Handyperson services across Flintshire.
• Monitoring and collating Service Charges
Learning to develop and produce (but not limited to):
• Service charge consultations
• Service level agreements
• Contractual agreements
• Tenant participation events (fetes, open days etc)
• Digital inclusion techniques (understanding how best to interact with customers)
• Understanding and developing best practise i.e. promoting, supporting and championing tenant participation.
• Best practise across ‘estate management’

Department: Local Taxation Team
Title:  Flintshire Trainee – Revenues
Level: 2/3 Business Administration

What the team do: 
The Local Taxation Team collects council tax on behalf of Flintshire County Council and business rates on behalf of Welsh Government.
What you would be involved in: 
• Customer telephone enquiries
• Referencing work into the workflow system
• Producing and manipulating statistical information
• Data analytics
• Setting up direct debits and general administration work

Trade Placements

Department: Housing Assets 
Title: Flintshire Trainee PlastererLevel: 2
Base: County Offices, Flint
What the team do:
• Undertaking repairs and maintenance for Flintshire County Council’s social housing stock 
• Ensure that Flintshire County Council Social Housing stock is to lettable standards
• Undertake repairs and maintenance to vacant and tenanted properties
What you would get involved with:
• Complete minor and major plastering works which includes replacing defective wall and ceiling finishes 
• Repair and replace external rendering 
• Renew floor screeds and finishes 
• Renew floor and wall tiling 
• Dry line walls and skim to a high standard
• Ensure that all Health & Safety requirements are followed 

 

Department: Housing and Assets
Title: Flintshire Trainee – Joinery 
Level: 2/3 Joinery
Base: County Offices, Flint
What the team do:
The team manages a large portfolio of social housing stock.  Repair and maintenance is an ongoing requirement with the construction of new social housing.  There are approx... 110 qualified trades persons who are responsible for maintaining approx. 7,300 properties for responsive repairs. As a landlord, FCC has a statutory regulated requirement which includes gas and electrical work.
What you would be involved with (a few examples): 
• To collect orders and instruction, complete documentation such as work orders and timesheets and return completed documentation on a daily basis
• To be able to work from detailed specifications and drawings
• To work with a tradesperson to carry out work at council owned properties to provide a quality customer driven service to set standards to customers
• Be responsible and accountable for the ordering, collection and safe storage and use of materials
• Be prepared to use any equipment identified to improve the efficiency and effective service delivery of the department
• Maintain and keep clean any allocated transport, tools and plant, protective workwear, mobile telephones and any other equipment allocated to employee within corporate and departmental procedures. 
• A full driving licence would be desirable but not essential to enable the trainee to work across locations depending on their rota.

Streetscene Placements

Department: Streetscene & Transportation 
Title: Flintshire Trainee (Streetscene Operative)
Level: 2
Base: Alltami Depot, Alltami
What the team do:
• Provide direct support for the Waste & Recycling Collection service operations, grounds maintenance, cleansing operations and highways maintenance operations.
• Working from the base of Alltami Depot, team members work over a 4 day week shift patterns over 7:00am – 17:00pm / 7:30am – 17:30pm depending on the area of work.
What you would get involved with:
• Waste & Recycling Collection – undertake waste and recycling collection 
• Ground Maintenance – Undertake strimming and mowing duties across parks and gardens 
• Shrub bed maintenance – undertake shrub bed maintenance within parks and gardens 
• Street cleaning – undertake manual litter picking and emptying litter bins throughout town centers and rural locations 
• Highway maintenance – undertake pothole repairs and kerb laying 
• Provide customer service and face to face communication with members of the public

Department: Customer Contact Team
Title: Flintshire Trainee – Customer Contact
Level:  2/3 Customer Service
Base: The Trainee will work across a number of locations on a rota basis including Customer Services (Mold), Flintshire Connects Centres (Mold, Buckley, Flint, Connah’s Quay and Holywell), and the Contact Centre (Ewloe).  A full driving licence would be desirable but not essential to enable the trainee to work across locations depending on their rota.
What the team do:
Customer Services who are responsible for customer enquiries, complaints and website content development.  Flintshire Connects face to face access to Council services in town centre locations including Mold, Buckley, Flint, Connah’s Quay and Holywell.  Contact Centre deliver first point of contact telephony services for a wide range of Council services including Housing and Streetscene who receive the highest volume of customer contact.
What you would be involved with: 
• Assist customers with non-complex face to face enquiries at Flintshire Connects Centres through the use of appropriate technology, processes, procedures and knowledge to resolve enquiries to the satisfaction of the customer at their first point of contact.
• Process customer enquiries received by the Contact Centre using appropriate telephony technology and IT systems to the satisfaction of the customer at their first point of contact.
• Undertake a full range of document management activities such as electronic records management, scanning, arching and filing.
• Undertake a range of IT tasks including the use Microsoft Office and the Customer Relationship Management System (CRM) to record customer enquiries, produce documents, letters, marketing material, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations etc.
• Contribute to the maintenance of communications on the intranet and internet sites ensuring the information is accurate and up-to-date and identify opportunities for improved electronic access to services such as web e-forms.
• Provide administrative support to the Customer Contact services i.e. Photocopying, Scanning, Filing and Archiving.  


Department: The Access Team (Countryside)

What the team do:
The Access Team is responsible for developing managing and maintaining access and the natural environment in Flintshire. 
What you would be involved in:  
• Promote and assist in the delivery of the 10 year strategic Rights of Way Improvement plan
• Assist to investigate and resolve enquiries/complaints to ensure compliance with appropriate legislation etc
• Assist to compile and support information in relation to Freedom of Information requests
• Prepare and maintain registers and databases
• Promote and develop the rights of way service


Department: Finance Department (Aura Leisure and Libraries)
Title: Flintshire Trainee – Finance Assistant
Level: 2/3 AAT
Base: Aura Head Office, Deeside Leisure Centre
What the team do:
The Finance team supports colleagues at all levels of the organization with financial processes and reporting. The team works with, and across, all services of Aura Leisure and Libraries.
What you would be involved in:
• Undertake reconciliations of sales receipts and bank accounts
• Assist to prepare journals
• Process direct debit subscriptions
• Day to day duties including processing memberships and bookings
• Liaise with colleagues on income and expenditure at their sites
• Process purchase orders and invoices
• Payroll and taxation

Department: Finance Department
Title: Flintshire Trainee – Finance Assistant
Level: 2/3 AAT
Base: County Hall, Mold
What the team do:
The Finance team supports colleagues at all levels of the authority with the provision of a broad range of financial services and reporting. Working in a modern and agile way, the finance team members are forward looking, and support their budget managers to forecast, plan and monitor and manage their own budgets.  By maximising technology and enabling managers and services, the team support the delivery of efficient services that add value.  
What you would be involved in: 
• Assisting in the provision of timely and accurate financial information as requested by Finance colleagues or Customers to facilitate effective financial and service planning for the Council.
• Supporting the finance team in implementing new ways of working across all services. 
• The post holder will be required to support the Finance Support Officer with project work as required including assisting in preparing journals, processing purchase orders and raising invoices.
• Provide efficient and effective financial support as required under Service Level Agreements. 
• Actively seek to improve ways of working in all areas in your remit to ensure financial reporting is undertaken in an efficient and effective way.

Title: Graduate Trainee – Quantity Surveying or Construction Management

What the team do:
The Property and Capital Delivery Team operates as an Intelligent Client. The role exists to provide a professional and cost effective Quantity Surveying and Project Management service in relation to the procurement of a wide variety of construction works associated with the Council's building assets ranging from multi million pound new capital schemes e.g. 21st Century School programme to small alteration and refurbishment projects.
What you would be involved in:

What the team do: The team work with services and supplies to develop digital (web and mobile) solutions which will support the councils Digital Customer Work stream and enable self-service for customers. 
What you will be involved in:
• You will play a supporting role in the implementation of the IT Business Plan ensuring that services are delivered in line with associated plans, procedures and standards.
• Design, plan and deliver microsites, web applications and associated digital services
• Responsible for carrying out a range of tasks, including planning, design, development, testing, implementation, support and management of all in-house developed web based and digital solutions
• Develop and deliver effective and efficient IT solutions to show creativity and innovation

What the team do:
The Transformation Team link directly to the delivery of FCC’s Digital Strategy. 
What you would be involved in: 
• Advise on design, layout and presentation
• Work with colleagues within the ICT team to make changes, as well as actively supporting the production of new, simple and user-friendly web content
