Department: IT Communications
Title: Flintshire Trainee – ICT – Infrastructure for schools 
Level: 2/3 
What the team do:
• Support schools, working closely with school engineers, network managers and federation technicians within the school.
• Support server infrastructure, wireless networks and schools internet access
• Incident management 
What you would get involved with:
• School active directory domain support 
• School backup and tape management 
• Patch management 
• Application installs
• Setting up new user accounts
• Checking backups have completed successfully
• Movement of tapes to secure locations 
• Documenting changes to the server infrastructure

Department: IT Services 
Title: Flintshire Trainee ICT – Business Relationship Management 
Level: 2/3
What the team do:
• Support the ICT service desk to resolve faults, provide IT support, guidance and information to customers 
• Work in partnership with departments to ensure the right level of service is being delivered 
• Provide IT training and guidance to customers in the use of technology utilised within the council. 
What you would get involved with:
• Processing and fulfilment of customers IT requests e.g. hardware orders, remote access requests)
• Monitoring of the  IT Faults reported to the Service Desk

What the team do:
• Provide legal advice and support to the whole of the Council 
• Provide Legal advice in the protection of children and adults

What you would get involved with:
• Admin support to the legal services

What the team do:
• Offer intervention for young people who offend or are at risk of offending and preventing re-offending 
• Support and advise young people aged 10-25 and their families 
• Provide informal education and recreational opportunities to young people aged 11-25, through a network of youth clubs, projects, outreach, detached and mobile facilities.
What you would get involved with:
• Be the first point of contact for all incoming telephone calls from service users, families and professionals, visitors etc. 
• Collect incoming and outgoing mail
• Data input on client management system and associated spreadsheets

What the team do:
• Collection of council tax, business rates & rent income 
• Enforcement and collection of all council debts and provide advice to customers in debt and entering into payment agreements.
• Collate financial and performance related information 
• Maintain a database
What you would get involved with:
• Dealing with routine telephone enquiries, providing customers with basic advice.
• Taking debit/ credit card payments over the telephone for a variety of services 
• Referencing work using document imaging and management systems 
• Maintaining customer records and using databases to update accounts
• Managing documents for printing and dispatch 
• Collating management information and presenting data in a range of formats, including using charts, graphs to provide statistics
• Using various reports to update account details for the various systems

Department: Community Business Protection       
Title: Flintshire Trainee Business Administration 
Level: 2/3 
What the team do:
• Deal with all aspects of licensing for the following: private hire and hackney carriage vehicles, drivers and operators, alcohol, entertainment, late night refreshment, gambling, animal licensing, charitable collections and scrap metal 
• Offer a pest control service – control of pests, such as wasps, mice and rats
• Operate a dog warden service to deal with any stray/ loose dogs in Flintshire area 
What you would get involved with:
• Taking payments and banking 
• Use of archiving/ records management systems 
• Processing of sensitive data 
• Administrative duties 
• Be trained to carry out taxi appointments which includes accepting applications, issuing and making taxi plates, checking identity, authorising payments, processing of the application from start to finish, administering knowledge test.
• Marketing i.e. encouraging business for the pest control section, and initiating and keeping Facebook and Twitter accounts up to date.
• Answering the telephones, taking messages for officers and giving basic advise.
• Arranging appointments for callers/ managing diaries

What the team do:
• Oversees the building of the new council and affordable homes across the county.
• Management of North East Wales (NEW) Homes Ltd which provides affordable rented properties across the county 
• Services such as the Bond Scheme, Housing Strategy, Gypsy Travellers, Training, Performance, Information Security and specific projects.
What would you get involved with:
• Arranging and attending meetings with the development partners 
• Preparing and circulating meeting documents such as agendas and minutes
• Document control to ensure all records are readily accessible • Preparing correspondence as required 
• Site visits and site meetings in a constructive environment

Department: pensions 
Title: Flintshire Trainee Business administration 
Level: 2/3 
What the team do:
• Deliver a pensions service for approximately 46,500 scheme members and 41 employing bodies
• Calculate various benefits, transfers in and out, refunds and maintenance of individual records
• Maintain the pension software systems and reconcile employer records
What you would get involved with:
• Create and maintain pension records
• Analyses, verify and validate the existing data on member records
• Sort and scan all external and internal post and emails including original documents such as certificates, passports and driving licenses
• Monitoring stocks of the sections stationery and ordering supplies
• Respond to written and telephone queries from pension scheme members and employers
• Undertake general clerical duties and other duties that may occur from time to time as directed by other senior pension’s staff.

Title: Flintshire Trainee Painter & Decorator 
What The team do:
• Undertake repairs and maintenance on Flintshire County Council’s social housing stock 
• Ensure the Flintshire County Council Social Housing stock is to a lettable standard
• Undertake repair and maintenance  to empty and in tenanted properties 
What you would get involved with:
• Undertake painting and decorating  to empty and tenanted properties 
• Strip existing wall papers and prepare surfaces
• Apply paint covering to the ceilings and walls to a high standard
• Apply wall paper to prepared walls 
• Prepare undercoat and gloss woodwork 
• External works which consist of pre-painting preparation 
• Ensure that all Health & Safety requirements are followed 

Department: Housing Assets 
Title: Flintshire Trainee Plumber
Level: 2/3
What the team do:
• Undertake repairs and maintenance on Flintshire county council’s social housing stock 
• Ensure Flintshire County Council Social Housing stock is to a lettable standard
• Undertake repairs and maintenance  to empty and in tenanted properties 
What you would get involved with:
• All aspects of plumbing and heating works 
• Install replacement bathrooms inclusive of bath, wash hand basin replacements, toilet renewals. 
• Install new kitchen fitted units complete with sick tops, wastes and associated works.
• Service gas appliances within the service program.
• Fault find and repair heating systems 
• Attend to emergency break downs 
• Ensure that all Health & safety requirements are followed 

Department: Housing Assets 
Title: Flintshire Trainee Plasterer
Level: 2
What the team do:
• Undertaking repairs and maintenance for Flintshire County Council’s social housing stock 
• Ensure that Flintshire County Council Social Housing stock is to lettable standards
• Undertake repairs and maintenance to vacant and tenanted properties
What you would get involved with:
• Complete minor and major plastering works which includes replacing defective wall and ceiling finishes 
• Repair and replace external rendering 
• Renew floor screeds and finishes 
• Renew floor and wall tiling 
• Dry line walls and skim to a high standard
• Ensure that all Health & Safety requirements are followed 

Streetscene Placements

Department: Streetscene & Transportation 
Title: Flintshire Trainee (Streetscene Operative)
Level: 2
What the team do:
• Provide direct support for the Waste & Recycling Collection service operations, grounds maintenance, cleansing operations and highways maintenance operations.
• Working from the base of Alltami Depot, team members work over a 4 day week shift patterns over 7:00am – 17:00pm / 7:30am – 17:30pm depending on the area of work.
What you would get involved with:
• Waste & Recycling Collection – undertake waste and recycling collection 
• Ground Maintenance – Undertake strimming and mowing duties across parks and gardens 
• Shrub bed maintenance – undertake shrub bed maintenance within parks and gardens 
• Street cleaning – undertake manual litter picking and emptying litter bins throughout town centers and rural locations 
• Highway maintenance – undertake pothole repairs and kerb laying 
• Provide customer service and face to face communication with members of the public

What the team do:
• Provide an annual assurance opinion over the adequacy of the Council’s internal controls, risk management and governance arrangements
• Provide independent and objective assurance around the internal control framework
• Advise on risk management
What you would get involved with:
• Planning and undertaking audits, as well as reporting and communicating audit findings with the support of the audit team
• Assist the Senior Auditors in undertaking audit reviews across the whole of the Council and contribute to the completion of the annual audit plan  
• Support the completion of the audit plan which informs the annual audit opinion of the Council
