Former Saltney Library site

Published: 25/08/2016

Work began today (24 August) on improvements to the site of the former Saltney Library at Salisbury Ave in Saltney to help address concerns about on street parking and road safety expressed by the local community and the school. The site previously contained the Library and a small car park, this now being housed in the Community and Youth Centre. The space left will be turned into a car park for parents dropping off and picking up children from the local primary schools and for local residents’ parking which should alleviate pressure on the road network in the area. The work will be completed before the start of the new school term. Cllr. Bernie Attridge, Cabinet Member for Environment said, “I am delighted that Flintshire County Council has been able to make good use of this area to alleviate parking problems and improve road safety in and around Salisbury Ave particularly at the start and end of the school day.” “I am sure this arrangement will bring much needed relief for local residents and provide a practical and sustainable solution to a problem of concern to the community and the local schools.” Note to editors Pictured in attached picture are (l to r): Adam Foley, Streetscene Technical Officer and Adrian Parry of contractors A Parry Construction
