The outgoing Chairman of Flintshire County Council, Councillor Ray Hughes and his Consort, Mrs Gwenda Hughes, presented their chosen charities with cheques totalling £19,000 recently. Since being elected last May, Cllr Hughes has supported Guide Dogs for the Blind (Mold area), Clwyd Special Riding School and Nightingale House Hospice (Leeswood branch). Cllr Hughes presented representatives from the three charities with cheques of £5,000 each at County Hall in Mold, ending a very successful year as chairman. The remainder of the funds will be split between other local organisations. Cllr Hughes said: Gwenda and I have had a truly wonderful year and it is an honour to represent the County we love. I am really pleased that we raised so much money for our chosen charities. I would like to thank everyone for their fantastic support during my year in office and I wish the new Chairman, Cllr Peter Curtis, a successful year ahead.
