Flintshire County Council is supporting Small Business Saturday UK, a national
campaign to celebrate and encourage people to shop at independent local shops.
Shoppers in Flintshire are encouraged to support their local towns in the run
up to Christmas by shopping local on Saturday 6 December. The day has been
dubbed Small Business Saturday by a national grassroots, non-political,
non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages
consumers to shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities.
Shops and other small businesses can download a free poster from the campaign
website to promote the day, and also pick up other useful tips and advice to
attract customers on the day - https://smallbusinesssaturdayuk.com/.
As well as the campaign encouraging consumers to use their local shops on Small
Business Saturday, traders themselves are also encouraged to make the most of
the day by, for example, offering a special discount, promotion or free sample
to entice people to shop with them on the day.
Councillor Derek Butler, Cabinet Member for Economic Development, said:
We’re delighted to support Small Business Saturday on December 6th. Many of
Flintshire’s towns have a number of interesting and unique independent traders,
offering a good range of items for Christmas shopping and all year round
purchases. Supporting local independent traders boosts the local economy and
helps preserve local jobs too. Please show your support for these vital shops
and services in your local town centres by shopping local and supporting Small
Business Saturday.
