Wrexham and Flintshire’s joint Local Housing Market Assessment

People in the Wrexham and Flintshire areas are being asked to take part in a survey that will help both Councils understand the amount and type of housing needed over the coming years. The survey known as a Local Housing Market Assessment, has been commissioned to ensure that both authorities can prepare housing and planning policies which reflect the needs of local communities. The Assessment will find out how much housing is needed, what the aspirations of households are along with the need for specialist and supported housing for particular groups, such as older people. A specialist housing and research company called Arc4 has been appointed to carry out the Assessment and report on the findings. Their research will be based on a survey of local residents, discussions with house builders, estate agents, registered social landlords and other interested parties, and an analysis of statistical information such as the Census 2011. Cllr Helen Brown Flintshire County Council Cabinet Member for Housing, said: It is important that new housing in North East Wales meets local housing needs. This study will help secure housing for local people and support economic growth in our local communities. A postal survey will be sent out in September 2014 to over 27,500 randomly selected households across Wrexham and Flintshire.
