Programme Launch – Flintshire Business Week 2014

The 2014 programme for Flintshire County Council’s flagship business event, Flintshire Business Week (FBW) has been launched. In association with AGS Security Systems and Westbridge Furniture Designs, this year’s focus is ‘The Growth Agenda’ and will concentrate on helping businesses in North Wales deal with new challenges as the County emerges from recession. The event will run from 7 -10 October with particular focus on manufacturing, reflecting the important part the industry plays in the region. The Regional Economy is the theme for Tuesday 7 October, beginning with an official opening by Lord Barry Jones, the new president of FBW, at St David’s Hotel, Ewloe. Speakers will highlight subjects including business success, strategic economic development, the state of the nation and the North Wales and Mersey Dee Alliance. Coleg Cambria Deeside is the venue for the Business Exhibition on 8 October which includes stands to showcase local businesses plus seminars on jobs growth in Wales, social media and an introduction to business in Wales. On 9 October, Airbus host Business North Wales with speakers on manufacturing trends in the UK, academia, advanced manufacturing and apprenticeships. It will also be a chance to celebrate 75 years of Airbus at Broughton. The benefits of and prospects for social enterprise development will be highlighted at a conference at Coleg Cambria from 1pm also on 9 October. Working Together is the theme on 10 October at Beaufort Park Hotel in Mold with a networking event, the Business Entrepreneurship Network and a speaker from the housing company North East Wales Homes talking about new opportunities for housing development in Flintshire. To round off Business Week, the prestigious invitation only Flintshire Business Awards Gala Dinner will be held at Soughton Hall on 17 October with awards for local businesses in 10 categories including Business of the Year and Business Person of the Year. Councillor Derek Butler, Cabinet Member for Economic Development said: “The programme is a fantastic mix of local, regional and national speakers and a must for anyone in business in Flintshire and beyond.
