Cracking down on crime

Members of the Flintshire Community Safety Partnership have met local residents at Mold market to talk about crime prevention and community safety. Funding secured through the Partnership has enabled North Wales Police, Flintshire Trading Standards, Flintshire Neighbourhood Watch and Flintshire Neighbourhood Wardens to operate a stall at markets and events throughout August across the county. The stall provides advice regarding the prevention of crime, and in particular burglary. Members of the public will be able to sign up for online crime alerts, register property and obtain a home security visit alongside advice from Flintshire Trading Standards. Councillor Kevin Jones, Flintshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Waste Strategy, Public Protection and Leisure said: “It’s fantastic to see all these organisations working together for the benefit of the community in Flintshire. It’s important to highlight crime prevention and make local people more secure in their own homes so please visit the stand at these events and find out what the Partnership can do for you.” Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant Matthew Mitchell said: “The effects of burglary can be very traumatic for the victim. “By working in partnership with the Community Safety Partnership, Neighbourhood Watch, Flintshire Neighbourhood Wardens and Trading Standards, who together with North Wales Police secured the funding, we hope to ensure that residents across the county are in the best possible position to avoid becoming a victim of crime.” The Partnership is scheduled to attend the following markets and events: Friday 15 August - Flint market Wednesday 20 August - Mold market Thursday 21 August - Holywell market Saturday 23 August - Mold market Saturday 30 August – Connah’s Quay Photo caption 1: Members of the Flintshire Community Safety Partnership outside the stall at Mold market.
