People Strategy 2014-2017

Published: 14/04/2014

Members will consider the proposed key themes and priorities for the next phase of the Council’s People Strategy for 2014-17 at a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday (15 April). The Council’s new strategy will set out the Council’s vision to achieve effective organisational change and development, modernised working practices, employee development and the improved health and well-being of its workforce in order to deliver higher performing, cost effective and flexible services to better meet the needs of our customers. The People Strategy will support the organisation by developing and embedding leadership values and behaviours that will enable the successful transition from the current Council structure to the Council’s new Operating Model, with a focus on organisation redesign, positive cultural change, talent management and the achievement of enhanced performance and productivity. Councillor Billy Mullin, Cabinet Member for Corporate Management said: “The People Strategy guides the Council when it comes to dealing with employees and work productivity and contributes to the smooth running of the organisation which will, in turn, benefit customers and local residents. A skilled, professional workforce will offer a great service, will achieve challenging service targets and will take the organisation from strength to strength.”
