Within Flintshire, wheeled sports such as BMX, skateboarding, scooters, mountain bikes and in-line skating are growing in popularity with young people.

Flintshire County Council is committed to providing and developing areas for young people to access facilities which encourage wheeled play opportunities and as a consequence the users are improving their skills and becoming more confident as they develop.

We have 10 Wheeled Play Areas across Flintshire which are open access. The aim of each site is to provide a dedicated place for wheeled play which is more stimulating and safer than areas such as streets, precincts etc.  It is also a place where young people can enjoy themselves without causing a nuisance to residents/pedestrians.  They are also a good meeting point to catch up with friends and hone skills.

Wheeled Play Areas are made from the latest materials and methods to ensure the quality of the riding experience.  Every Wheeled Play Area is developed with the local community and each scheme has a unique look as a result of the skaters/riders within that community being involved in the design and selection of the riding elements.  With local skaters and riders helping to design the parks, to provide the best possible lines and flow, they also begin to take ownership of their facility, leading to reduced vandalism and improved community harmony.

Also Deeside Leisure Centre has an indoor skatepark, please see Evolution Extreme for more details.
